This movie is inspired by W.G. Sebald's book and based on fragments from World War II archives, raises a question: is it morally acceptable to use civilians as a means of war? Is it possible to defend mass destruction for higher 'moral' ideals? This issue is still as important today as it was 80 years ago, and its urgency is tragically demonstrated in the current events.
