整部电影像一部育人童话。每个老人都承担着一位人生导师的角色，以身说教，用自己的人生经历去讲述一个道理。
其中，最令我感动的是一个叫达令的老人。她年轻时候容貌出众，拥有优秀的跳水天赋，她本该拥有一个非凡的人生，但可惜的是遇到了一个男人。后面的故事就不可避免地落入俗套，达令成为一名家庭主妇，丈夫四处奔波为了生计。曾经热恋时期世界旅行的誓言也逐渐被淹没在日常琐碎中。
故事的转折点在一个小池塘。
婚后，达令孕育了几个孩子，大女儿已经出落得亭亭玉立，有几分自己年轻时的风采

影片音乐悠扬柔美，故事节奏挺慢，适合打发时间时慢慢欣赏：
First, as long as I can remember, my grandmother and her friends have been part of the quilting bee. I remember sitting under the quilting frame pretending I was surrounded by forest friendly trees that their stitches were messages from giant written cross the sky. I used to spend my summers with my grandmother and grandaunt who lived in Grass California. My mum would dump me there when she took off with her latest boyfriend.
My patents marriage didn’t last very long. They said they didn’t love each other anymore or maybe they were just afraid their relationship has become just like someone else’s. They eventually part as friends and I eventually stopped thinking it was all my fault. The truth is there is no one’s fault. Sometimes love simply dies.
