其实大概的剧情就是现实版的《狮子王》，讲述一头白狮的成长历程，而故事的递进是由老头讲故事的方式展开，说实话没啥戏剧冲突，这点上《狮子王》显然做的更好，所以不是很喜欢狮子这种动物的观众可能看起来会有点闷。
片中对于非洲大草原和狮子的镜头捕捉都挺到位，但个人感觉遗憾的是每次狮子扑杀时都是用音效带过，可能是太过血腥，不过小白狮是真的萌。还有比较不满意的一点是插入人类剧情，让纪录片看起来更像是一部故事片，所以主题不知道是狮子的成长还是人类的肆意虐杀。
